August Impact Report

Liam Foldi

August was a huge month for Kenshi! Thanks to your support we were able to fund over 10,000 meals for people in need, both here in Australia and in Chin State, Myanmar.

This includes

- 1,440 kg of pasta to SecondBite.

- 150 kg of pasta to Asylum Seeker Resource Center (ASRC).

- And, 1,086 kg of rice for refugees and displaced people in Chin State, Myanmar!

As you may know, our candles are made in Melbourne by refugees from Chin State, Myanmar. In June of this year I travelled to Chin State with Jacob who was forced to flee his home village in 2002, at just 20 years of age. After spending 7 years in India, his refugee status was finally accepted and he moved to Australia with his family.

Visiting Jacob's home was an emotional experience. A beautiful country, rolling green mountains as far as the eye can see. But a country that has also been plagued with instability and civil war since the end of British colonisation in 1948.

During our trip we donated over 2 tonnes of rice which we purchased in India and delivered across the border to those who need it most. While this had a massive impact, they still need our help. There are thousands of people in Myanmar who have lost their homes due to the ongoing civil war and live well below the poverty line.

For the remainder of this year our goal is to fund 10,000 kg of rice for displaced people in Myanmar, in addition to the pasta we donate each month to local food charities in Australia. Help us make this goal a reality by turning the money you already spend on candles and gifts into food for people in need.

Thanks for supporting Kenshi.
