FareShare

Located in Abbotsford, Melbourne, FareShare is Australia's largest charity kitchen.

FareShare rescues food that would otherwise go to waste and cooks it into free nutritious meals for people in need.  Around four million Australians experience food insecurity each year while as much as $20 billion worth of food is wasted.

FareShare cooks more than 5,500 free meals a day for charities such as soup vans, homeless shelters, women’s refuges and community food banks.

Much of the ingredients they use are donated but some they need to buy themselves, one example of this is Pastry. FareShare make 15,000 savoury pastry meals a week going through 600kg of pastry on a weekly basis.

One candle funds 20 meals at FareShare.
